Meet Our Executive Board - Michael A. Jacobson
As we head further into the celebration of our 45th anniversary, we’re introducing you to some of our newest executive board members. You’ll have a chance to get to know the six directors that have joined us over the last year, why Ignite’s mission speaks to them, and what they hope for the youth we work with.
Today, we’re introducing you to Michael A. Jacobson, Litigation Attorney at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP, who joined us in August of 2021. Read on for his responses:
What brought you to serve on Ignite’s board?
I first got to know Ignite after having attended the organization's casino night, and through my firm, Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP’s long-standing partnership with the organization. After learning more about Ignite I was really impressed with the programs and services that it offers to so many young people that are experiencing homelessness. The passion and dedication of the Ignite board and team members truly stands out and I wanted to become a part of the organization to help make an impact on the community.
What is it about the cause of youth homelessness specifically that drove you to dedicate your time?
Ignite’s vision, that young people should be defined by their potential, not their circumstances, really resonates with me. More than anything I feel that a strong support network is crucial for any person to living a full and happy life, especially in young people. Often youth that are experiencing homelessness do not have that support. Ingite does such a great job stepping up to provide those holistic support services. I am driven to dedicate my time to give young people experiencing homelessness the opportunity to succeed.
Finally, what are some of the things that you hope for the youth we work with?
Young people experiencing homelessness are faced with so many unique challenges every day. I am hopeful that we can provide stability to the lives of the young people that we work with. Whether that be housing, education, or job training, Ignite can impact a young person’s life in so many positive ways. I also hope that by the time these young people leave Ignite’s program that they have the tools and resources they need to end their homelessness experience and achieve personal and economic independence.
