Ignite Icons Series - Mary Lou Mulvihill-Skalkos

To celebrate our 45th anniversary, we're bringing you the Ignite Icons series - highlighting some of the most prominent figures that have been part of the Ignite community over the years.

Since joining the Ignite Executive Board way back in 2009, when Ignite was still known as Teen Living Programs, Mary Lou Mulvihill-Skalkos has served as the Fundraising Chair, the President Elect, the board Chairperson (and later Co-Chairperson) - and over those thirteen years with the organization, she has been a true backbone of the organization and the board, guiding us through fundraising events, brand overhauls, and immense agency growth.

As part of our 2022 Ignite & Shine Gala, we presented Mary Lou with a special honor for her dedication and continued service to the organization. She and her family have been involved with Ignite in so many ways over the years, with her children serving on the Associate Board, and the Mulvihill Family Foundation serving as a regular sponsor of Ignite’s events and initiatives.

Her dedication to the organization will allow us to continue to expand our mission and grow to serve youth throughout all of Chicago, beyond just the South Side of the city, and we’re so thankful for her!
