Service at the Heart of Programming
CaSSA and Next Gen participants and staff made their way to Markham, Illinois to help package and distribute "Boxes of Love" (Thanksgiving dinner boxes) at Victory Christian International Ministries. They also distributed Thanksgiving dinners to the tent communities near Roosevelt Rd. and Desplaines Ave. and near the Pacific Garden Mission.
During the “Boxes of Love” event our youth were able to meet and assist Michael Airhart, founder of "Taste For The Homeless", with cooking and serving meals and they were given the opportunity to help with the distribution of clothing bags. These organizations enjoyed our youth so much that they were invited to participate in future projects!
CaSSA and Next Gen youth and staff also participated in decorating for and serving meals at the Harvest Dinner at Zion Temple Church of Christ and they worked with the Quinn Chapel AME Church at their Thanksgiving Community Dinner Service Project by providing meals to help feed seniors living in the South Chicagoland area.
