Ignite's Community Hub is Now Open!
At the end of March, Ignite’s Drop-In Resource Center joined the community of tenants already thriving in the historic Rosenwald Building in Bronzeville. Located on an entire city block between 46th and 47th Street and Wabash and Michigan Avenues, the Rosenwald building was originally built in 1929 and has been home to such greats at Nat King Cole, Quincy Jones, and boxer Joe Lewis. It was renovated and reopened in 2017 as Rosenwald Courts, a community apartment building with retail tenants.
We are proud to stand as an essential service to Chicago during the current health crisis, and we couldn't be happier to announce our new Ignite Community Hub is now open for normal operating hours in Rosenwald Courts, 56 E 47th St, Ste 410-C! Our new location at Rosenwald Courts will be much more accessible and visible to young people in need of our services, and will allow us to provide our comprehensive service model all in one location. Youth will be able to access our outstanding services all in one place in an atmosphere of safety, security, and comfort. Youth will have access to knowledgeable and compassionate Ignite staff, counseling and mental health services, GED classes, employment training, financial literacy classes, and our brand new one of a kind technology center, generously donated by Meeting Tomorrow, all on the 4th Floor.
Of course, due to COVID-19, we are currently only allowing 10 clients in the space per day and clients and staff are practicing social distancing to keep everyone safe and healthy.
