Allstate Helps Ignite Meet Critical Needs During COVID-19 Crisis
Ignite stands with youth on their journey to a home and a future with promise. We envision a world where all young people have the support they need to be defined by their potential, not their circumstances. Serving over 500 youth per year, we offer holistic services to young people between the ages of 14 to 26 who are unstably housed or experiencing homelessness. Beyond meeting youth's immediate needs, our services provide youth with all the tools and support they need to succeed: stable housing; access to employment and education opportunities; primary and mental health care; lasting connections with caring adults, and the skills to live a healthy and independent life. We intend to be the last program our youth need but the family they can always come home to.
Ignite is committed to the safety and health of our staff, youth, volunteers, and community. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have developed a comprehensive COVID-19 response, which implements all the necessary steps and precautions to keep our staff and youth safe. Implementing this response, however, has greatly increased our costs. These costs include everything from increased spending for extra personnel, food, cleaning supplies, and protective gear to costs associated with rent relief for clients who have lost their jobs or experienced reduced work hours.
Fortunately, over the past six weeks our partners and friends have stepped up in some unique and amazing ways to support us so we can continue to serve our youth safely and successfully while adapting to the current circumstances. Allstate has been an integral part of this support. The Company has generously provided us with a $15,000 grant to help us meet our COVID-19 expenses and prevent any disruption to our services.
We are so grateful for our partnership with Allstate and for this generous support! In the 20 years since Allstate became a fully independent public company, its employees and agency owners have donated more than $405 million to support local communities and organizations like Ignite. We would like to thank Allstate for their commitment to the community and Ignite. Like all of Allstate’s grant recipients, we are definitely in good hands with Allstate!
